Healthcare explainer video reduces tech support calls — and promotes cardiac health
OMRON is a global leader in blood pressure innovation, providing efficient, accurate products that meet clinical research standards. It’s the leading doctor- and pharmacist-recommended brand for home blood pressure monitoring.
StudioNorth created this 3-minute explainer video that reduced calls to tech support by walking patients through the setup and operation of their OMRON equipment.
The Challenge
The OMRON VitalSight™ Remote Patient Monitoring System helps patients monitor their blood pressure at home and automatically share their results with clinicians. The patient’s referring physician receives automatic notifications of their readings via the OMRON VitalSight dashboard or within the EHR, letting them advise intervention whenever it may be required.
While this technology was designed to give patients autonomy, OMRON VitalSight found that patient calls to technical support were on a sharp rise, as users had questions around how to set up and use the system correctly. To improve efficiencies and empower older, less technically savvy patients to set up and operate the remote capabilities of their device, OMRON VitalSight needed a simple, yet engaging explainer video to help their customers become comfortable with the technology.
The Solve
Making the operational instructions for the OMRON VitalSight system as clear as possible was a must. In just three minutes, the video we created shows patients step-by-step how to set up their equipment and take their blood pressure and weight measurements, ensuring that they’re transmitted back to their physician.
The video uses everyday language and friendly animation to explain what the device is, why their physician has prescribed it, and how to use it correctly. Institutions ordering VitalSight distribute the video directly to patients, encouraging them to watch the video as part of their overall patient experience.
The Result
The challenge was two-fold, as were the results.
The video reduced patients’ anxiety and barriers to use, helping them take a more active role in their health and be a part of Going for Zero — OMRON’s initiative to prevent cardiac incidents and stroke. And, because patients now had a better understanding of how to use their OMRON VitalSight equipment, they made fewer calls for technical support, reducing strain on that department.
Although this video was primarily shared directly with patients, it was also uploaded to YouTube where in just five days it generated:

- 1.6% click-through rate
By demonstrating how easily remote-monitoring healthcare devices like VItalSight can be integrated into a patient’s everyday routine and environment, our video has been instrumental in supporting a better patient experience and promoting healthier lifestyles.
